WagerLab is a social betting app that lets you place track (for-fun) bets with your friends. Using WagerLab is extremely simple to use for beginners and experts alike.
First, you browse odds on dozens of topics. You can then send bets to your friends of any "unit" amount. If your friend accepts the bet, it becomes active and WagerLab keeps track of the results and notifies you of the result. You any your friend can agree how your balance gets paid out and reset it at any time through the app. WagerLab also offers betting pools for the 54 million Americans who spend about $18B on betting pools each year. The majority of American sports bettors (~75.1 million people) place bets with their friends, but there is no easy way to manage such bets. Sportsbooks appeal to a narrow audience, and WagerLab aims to serve a broader range of bettors with a social betting platform. Right now, the app does not process real-money transactions and is free in all 50 states. Moving forward, we intend to monetize through paid betting pools and affiliate revenue share with real-money sportsbooks (they'll revenue share 35% on referrals). Long term, WagerLab will obtain an operator license and provide real-money exchange wagering where users on opposing sides of a bet are matched together. In the year and a half since WagerLab has launched we've seen explosive growth, but we can do much better. We currently sit at ~15k accounts that have placed ~ 75k wagers. The number of users wagering in Q4 2020 grew 1039% YoY. In the next 5 years, US sports betting revenue is expected to grow 8x. We're looking to establish ourselves as the go-to platform for betting against both friends and strangers.
