Introduction
Wia powers the future of the Internet of Things by enabling devices, servers and smartphones to communicate with one another in a simple, easy way. We take care of the messy cloud infrastructure and expose a globally available cloud API that developers can interact with to build intelligent and complex applications. Wia aims to offer its products a a competitive price to meet the demand of small-to-medium businesses in the hardware industry.

Problem
Building a real-time cloud infrastructure is complex, and requires huge upfront investment. A team of experts will typically spend a minimum of 6 months developing a production ready system - writing and testing 100,000’s of lines of code. Once the system is ‘out-in-the-wild’, a team of maintenance engineers are required to ensure 24/7 availability and to deploy security updates.

Solution
Wia abstracts all of that complexity so companies can focus on creating great products for their customers. Businesses don’t get brownie points for building servers, they only get them for serving users. Instead of trying to be good at many things, we enable companies to focus on the last mile of value they provide, the one thing they can excel at better than anyone else. Stripe did this for payments, we’re going to do it for the Internet of Things.

Business Model
We charge a monthly subscription for an organisation on our cloud platform. On top of the subscription, we charge per million messaged that are passed in and out of the system.

Market
Every 24 hours, 8.6 million new devices are connected to the Internet. During that period, consumers and businesses will spend €1.9 billion on Internet of Things related hardware and services. We plan to target the small to medium businesses developing the hardware products.

The Company
Wia is incorporated in Dublin, Ireland and is managed by founder Conall Laverty. Conall has extensive experience in software development having worked with some of the biggest companies in the world. The company intends to expand the development and marketing teams in its Dublin HQ in the coming months.

Traction

Our partner network sees us collaborating with some of the biggest names in software and connectivity including Sigfox, Twilio, PubNub and Slack.
