When creating a beautiful new fashion design or a dress, the design process often begins with a piece of material and/or a pattern for inspiration. Designers start pinning the material onto a mannequin and a new garment then starts taking shape. We would like to make this process available to everyone, digitally – from pattern creation to ‘digital pinning’ of that very same dress or garment onto the virtual mannequin, enabling the garment to then be created in real life.

Currently we see our target group as fashion design studios with a large client base, but why not individual customers also. The idea is to enable our client, the designer, to come onto our site and design their own pattern and after entering just three measurements (height, weight, chest size) create a virtual 3D model of their body and then start modelling the desired garment (dress in the first stage) onto this 3D digital mannequin. After a pattern or an image is chosen (this might be a repeated ornament, painting or a photograph), it will then be possible to choose the appropriate material (or get the designer to recommend this) for the desired design and start laying out the pattern onto the 3D model of the dress. Once the design has been created, the programme calculates cutout patterns which can then be printed, it will also calculate how much material is needed, removing the need to have a separate garment constructor for creating cutouts manually.

Up until now we have poured a lot of effort into various use-cases, but these are seen to be fluid and can potentially change with the development of the modelling programme itself and to enable and ensure best market fit for our potential user base.

Currently the custom-made patterns can only be printed onto viscose and cotton mix materials using sublimation technique. In order for this virtual fitting programme to really take off and for the designers to be able to create various fits and weights of garments, we are also working on creating new types of textiles. This is being done in cooperation with Tallinn Technical University.

Up until now, Wow Emotion has developed packaging (recycling the leftover sublimation printing-paper) and information leaflets for the garments, hangers with labelling (For the Bride, My Favourite Jubilee etc) and the very first collection of patterns, currently on sale at DI5AIN.

WOW Emotion provides original textile solutions for fashion designers and individual costumers. It offers unique printing opportunities using different fabrics. Developing WOW Emotion's concept will lead to endless opportunities how to combine together fabric, printing and different silhouettes. Fabric itself can have very many different structures - knitted fabric or woven fabric. Different patterns will add new appearance and character to the fabric. In my opinion WOW Emotion team leaded by Anneli Tamme is very motivated and has very many innovative ideas. That is why WOW Emotion project it is worth developing.
