At the time Xcerion had raised 14 million USD. iCloud.com was launched in 2009 and reached 450 000 users in 2011 before it was sold, at the time it had cloud storage, email, calendar, contacts, notes, todo, instant messaging, presentation app, word processing app, it also included a social element with the ability for users to have profiles, communicate, post public messages, share photos and videos.

In 2015 Xcerion sold MyCloud to Western Digital and formed a partnership around the CloudMe service, which became preinstalled on WD TV and on the WD NAS Sentinel for small and medium businesses.

Technology that had been under R&D at Xcerion for a long time resulted in 2018 in the formation of the Edge Application Platform company of XIOS3.com, it also resulted in the creation of the Edge dbPaaS service company CloudBackend.com.

Xcerion are not doing any investments in external companies, but are instead supporting its portfolio companies and technologies developed in house. The company was founded by the serial entrepreneur Daniel Arthursson and is based in Sweden.
