Yellow Pallet B.V. develops technology with the goal to sell factories, supplies and services to produce transport pallets of banana stems. The technology can be applied in 100 tropical countries in a US$50 billion/year market. Yellow Pallet has constructed a reference factory in Costa Rica producing and selling pallets for export of tropical fruits like bananas, pine apple and melons.

The pallets are made of wooden planks and 9 banana blocks. In this way 30% of the wood volume is replaced. The pallets are more cost-effective and have a better footprint. In addition less wood is imported from far away places like Chile and less trees are being cut. Wood for pallets is scarce in the tropics and wood consumption is increasing in the world due to economic growth and the impact of China. All tropical countries with a relative high need for pallets are target countries for Yellow Pallet.

While producing and selling from the reference factory in Costa Rica a pallet press will be developed to produce the complete pallet of banana fiber. Besides this development, Yellow Pallet is currently engaged in selling Costa-Rica-like factories in Ecuador, Guatemala, and Colombia and needs to expand the factory in Costa Rica to grow to 1.7 million pallets per year. For these challenges Yellow Pallet is looking for growth capital.

The banana stems used for producing banana fiber are received from fruit plantations (waste) and plantations that have been created to grow stems only. The yield of dry fiber from banana plantations is 4 times larger than from a wooden forest. Growing stems without fruit is therefore always saving land that can be used for other purposes. Yellow Pallet has developed in Costa Rica a Reference plantation with a variety that grows organic and is resistant to the classical banana diseases. In this way Yellow Pallet has introduced banana-forrestry in the world with the fist plantation growing Musa balibissiana. The agronomy is developed by Yellow Pallet. The stems from the plantations can be harvested 9-10 months after planting, which means that any factory in the world can create is own source of material during the construction period of the factory itself. There is no competition for banana fiber, which guarantees the low price of the raw material banana fiber.
